The trip

Five days built around Sri Lanka's most beautiful town. Inside Galle Fort's ramparts you'll find galleries, spice gardens and a lighthouse on the sea wall; outside, stilt fishermen at first light, turtle hatcheries and the long golden sand of Bentota. Slow, photogenic and delicious.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Galle

    Transfer to your fort hotel; rampart walk and dinner in a colonial courtyard.

  2. Day 2

    Inside the Fort

    The lighthouse, Dutch church, spice garden and hidden lanes with a local historian.

  3. Day 3

    Stilt Fishermen & Turtles

    Dawn at Koggala's stilts, then the turtle hatchery and a beach afternoon.

  4. Day 4

    Bentota River

    A mangrove river safari, a seafood lunch on the water, and golden sand.

  5. Day 5

    Departure

    A final fort coffee before your transfer to the airport.
