Before you book
Questions, answered.
Everything travellers usually ask before a journey to Ceylon. Anything else — we reply within a few hours.
Yes. Sri Lanka is consistently ranked one of the safest destinations in Asia for travellers. Our guides live in the regions you'll visit, we monitor conditions daily, and every journey includes 24/7 support. Standard travel advice: keep valuables close in busy markets and respect temple etiquette, which our guides will teach you.
Every tour page lists inclusions and exclusions in full. In general our prices cover accommodation, most meals, all internal transport and transfers, licensed guides, and all monument entry tickets. International flights and travel insurance are always excluded so you can book them how you like. There are no hidden fees — the price you see is the price you pay.
Most nationalities can obtain an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) online before arrival, valid for 30 days — it typically takes minutes and costs around $50. We send every traveller a step-by-step visa guide with their booking confirmation, and our concierge can check your eligibility in advance.
December to April is the classic season for the Cultural Triangle, hill country and the south coast — dry and sunny. May to September favours the east coast. Our tours run year round and are designed around the micro-climates of each region, so there is always a good window.
Temples require shoulders and knees to be covered, and shoes removed before entering — including at Sigiriya and the Temple of the Tooth. Light cotton clothing is ideal in the lowlands; the hill country is noticeably cooler, so pack layers for Ella and Nuwara Eliya. Full packing lists are sent before departure.
Almost always. Extra nights, a different pace, a private departure for your group — tell us what you'd change and we'll price it transparently. For anything that doesn't fit our published tours, the Tailor-Made service starts from a blank page.
For fixed-departure groups we recommend 3–6 months, especially for December–April departures. Private itineraries can often be arranged in 4–6 weeks. The village homestay and Adam's Peak tours have the most flexibility.
A 20% deposit secures your place. Cancel more than 60 days before departure for a full refund of payments made; 30–60 days, 50%; within 30 days, the deposit is non-refundable unless we can rebook your place. Full terms are sent with every booking confirmation.
