Fill in the project form on the contact page with a few honest details — site, ambition, budget range. We reply within a week, usually to schedule a site walk. The walk is free and the advice is honest, even if we are not the right studio for the job.

Fees are a percentage of construction cost for full design, or a fixed sum for defined scopes like feasibility studies and adaptive reuse. We invoice monthly against agreed milestones and give you the itemised breakdown. No hourly surprises.

Yes — the cabin in the Cascades is 98 m² and remains one of our favourites. We take roughly two small projects a year alongside the large ones, because small buildings teach us things large ones never will.

About half the studio\u2019s built work is adaptive reuse. We are experienced with warehouses, schools and civic buildings, and we bring the maintenance database to the conversation — what the old building is telling us usually beats what the brochure says.

A small residential build runs about 18 months from first walk to handover; a cultural building more like three years. The schedule is set by the site and the permit process, and we are honest about both from the first meeting.

It is the heart of the practice. Public buildings, parks and pavilions are designed by our senior team at studio rates. We believe the public realm is not a loss leader — it is the point of the profession.
